APPLIED CAD & FEA

INTRODUCTION

Since joining the Duke AERO team my freshman year, I’ve been a committed member of the structures subteam, contributing to mulitple key mechanical components. One of my ongoing responsibilities across all three years has been designing the motor retainer and motor centering rings—critical components I’ve modeled in Onshape and validated through Finite Element Analysis (FEA). Beyond these foundational parts, I’ve also played a key role in the design and analysis of the motor bulkhead. My involvement has extended into more advanced systems as well, airbrakes and canard housing, each of which required detailed CAD modeling and many hours machining.
